Robotics

Intro to Robotics is an after-school class for 6th grade students. It was first offered in Spring 2017.

Using the LEGO Mindstorms EV3, students learn basic robot design, construction and programming. They tinker with mechanical structure, motors, gears, power, sensors and much more, while learning engineering and math concepts such as mechanics, physics, design, and environmental science.

Students develop their own ideas and experiment with programming as their proficiency increases. Not only do students gain skills in engineering, but they test their logical reasoning and work with classmates to solve problems.

All classes are after school, from 3:15pm to 4:15pm.

What Does the Class Cost?

Students can take Intro to Robotics for free. However, the vendor we work with, Zaniac, charges for their time and instruction, so Palms needs funding to run the program.

Although a donation is not required, we politely suggest a donation between $50 and $300 so that we may continue this partnership and develop our robotics and technology programs at Palms.

To donate:

  1. Write a check payable to Palms Middle School.
  2. Put the check in a sealed envelope.
  3. Put the envelope in Ms. Vogel's mailbox in the Main Office.

Thank you for your support!
